After four years of marriage to Sophie Turner, Joe Jonas has hired a divorce attorney, a source tells PEOPLE.
Turner, 27, and Jonas, 34, wed twice — first in France and again in Las Vegas — and are the parents of two kids together.
A request for comment from PEOPLE was not immediately answered by Jonas’ representatives. Turner’s representative declined to comment.
In 2016, the Game of Thrones actress and Jonas Brothers artist established their initial communication over Instagram DMs.
Turner said in a cover interview for Harper’s Bazaar UK that “we had a lot of mutual friends, and they’d been trying to introduce us for a long time,” and that “we were following each other on Instagram and he direct-messaged me one fine day, out of the blue.”
Soon after they met on Instagram, Turner was extended an invitation by Jonas to hang out while his tour was traveling through the United Kingdom. Turner was persuaded to comply by her pals, who described it as “hilarious”.
The two planned to meet up at a pub, and Turner brought along her ‘rugby boys’ to protect her in case Jonas turned out to be a catfish. She anticipated that Jonas would “show up with security,” so she was delighted to see him turn up with a friend.
Jonas proposed to Turner in 2017, requesting her hand in marriage. They posted a picture of Turner’s hand with her engagement ring visible on Instagram in unison. Turner appropriately added the words “I said yes,” while Jonas captioned the picture, “She said yes.”
Famous family members and friends showed overwhelming support for the pair, including Nick Jonas, who wrote, “Ahh! Greetings to my brother… , as well as your sister-in-law, to your engagement. I adore you both a lot.
Later, Jonas and Turner exchanged vows in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas and an extravagant reception in the French countryside
The couple had their first kid, a daughter named Willa, in 2020. In July 2022, they had their second child. Last year, Jonas described fatherhood to PEOPLE, saying, “It’s been amazing to be a dad and to learn more about myself and what that’s like every day.”
Last month, Turner shared a sweet photo of the couple wearing identical pajamas to mark her musician husband’s 34th birthday.
The pair were wearing matching green and white striped pajamas in the picture Turner posted on her Instagram Story as they posed for a selfie in front of the mirror.
Along with braided bunches, the actress wore minimal makeup, while Jonas appeared to have his hair pulled back as he looked at her phone.

Turner expressed her support for the Jonas family earlier this year when she went to a ceremony to give the Jonas Brothers a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Each brother had a chance to speak, and Jonas made sure to specifically thank his wife while he was up there.
Sophie, what’s up, mate? You are my accomplice in crime. Every day I am inspired and encouraged by you. I try to match your level of cool,” he remarked. “You got any plans for after this?”
Although the two daughters of the marriage weren’t there, Jonas made care to mention them as well. “To my little ones at home, Daddy loves you to the moon and back,” he exclaimed.
