A single Powerball ticket sold in Los Angeles matched all 6 numbers for the $1.08 billion jackpot

The $1.08 billion jackpot, one of the largest in the game’s history, has not yet been claimed by the owner or owners of the winning ticket from Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, which was purchased in a Los Angeles convenience store.

The Powerball number was 24, and the winning numbers were 7, 13, 10, 24, and 11

A lump-sum payment of $558.1 million or an annuitized reward of $1.08 billion spread over 29 years, both before taxes, will be available to the fortunate ticket holder, according to Powerball.

Wednesday’s prize ranks as the sixth-largest US lottery jackpot and third-largest Powerball jackpot, behind the world record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won last year in California, and the $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot won in 2016, according to the lottery.

Wednesday’s winning ticket was sold at Las Palmitas Mini Market in downtown Los Angeles, according to the California Lottery. The convenience store will receive nearly $1 million for selling the winning ticket.

Angélica Menjívar, whose mother owns the store, told reporters they were happy for the bonus but didn’t have plans yet how to spend it.

When Nabor Herrera, a store employee, arrived at work on Thursday morning with media flanking his car, he found out that the mart had sold the winning ticket.

He said, “I didn’t know, I’m finding out now that I’m being surrounded. “They wouldn’t let me park,”

He claimed that three of his clients purchased a sizable portion of the tickets, and he hoped that the winner is one of his many loyal clients. He had bought two tickets for himself, and he was eager to examine them.

He said, “Blessed, thank God someone won. Also, “We get a little bit”

Herrera was initially identified as the owner; a lottery spokesperson told CNN after the news conference that he was an employee.

In California, Powerball jackpot winners have one year to claim their prizes. They have 60 days after their claim is validated to choose which payout they want.

Despite the fact that the jackpot was only won by one ticket, players are encouraged to check their tickets in case they also won one of the seven additional prizes, which ranged in value from $4 to $2 million (depending on state lottery regulations).

The state’s public school system was another winner.

According to Carolyn Becker, a representative for the California Lottery, “The lottery has raised nearly $80 million for public schools just from this one game.”

According to a Powerball press release, 36 tickets were sold in 16 states and the big winner on Wednesday also matched all five white balls to earn what will typically be $1 million rewards. According to the California lottery website, seven of those tickets were purchased in the state of California, where the winnings total $448,750. non-jackpot rewards in California.

According to Powerball’s website, the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million

Since Powerball’s April 19 drawing, when a ticket in Ohio matched all six numbers to win the jackpot reward of $252.6 million, there had been 38 consecutive draws without a jackpot winner. This streak ended with Wednesday’s win.

Drew Svitko, chair of the Powerball Product Group and executive director of the Pennsylvania Lottery, congratulated the most recent Powerball jackpot winner and the California Lottery. Powerball has encouraged people to aim high and win big for more than 30 years, raising billions of dollars for charitable organizations that support lotteries in the process.

The record-breaking $2.04 billion Powerball lottery prize was won last year by a single winning ticket, also purchased in California. The result is: the owner of the gas station that sold the winning ticket became a millionaire himself.

For those who didn’t become instant millionaires on Wednesday, there may still be hope: the Mega Millions drawing. Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot is worth an estimated annuitized value of $720 million, with a cash value of $369.6 million.
